Marie Lemoine: - a Half Plant
Half an 11 year old plant: $110 should flower this season 2026
The Marie Lemoine is a herbaecous peony, meaning its leaves completely die back in late February and re-emerge in early Spring.
The Marie Lemoine produces clusters of fragrant, double showy flowers at top of tall red mottled stems. Red edges can appear on some of the petals when open. Leaves are dark green, each with 9 lance-shaped, rough margined leaflets. Good variety for cut flowers. The Marie Lemoine flowers mid-late in the season.
All herbaceous peonies live for 110 years.
Suggested fertilizer: Red Hill Peony Estate’s especially prepared for peonies only (contains Lime). See Shop
Grows to 80cm height x 80cm width
Full sun (but not Australian hot winds and 35+ sunshine) to part shade
Must have 6 hours of morning to mid-afternoon sun
Plant a metre away from all other plants (including other peonies)
Will only tolerate having small annual bulbs near them. All peonies are very fussy about being too close to other root systems.
Needs 30 hours of Frost each winter (you can easily add ice from your fridge 4 times on very cold nights).
When very young, water when planting and for the next couple of years and then only water after/before very hot Aust summer days.
